monday 5mar07
took a bus to punggol jetty and waited ages before it was our turn to board the boat over to pulau ubin. darn hot when we reached. took a group picture at the rock wall.
our instructor was CJ ziyan's was steve AHHHH):
never mind our instructor was funny. overly lame but haha x)
our group name was Raffles. == quite -.- right. nanyang. raffles. sarah was very indignant la. i remember she kept saying 'its NANYANG RAFFLESIANS! NOT RAFFLES!' lol.

uhuh first day nothing much la. surrendered stuff, learnt how to pitch tents and got our food supplies and learnt how to wear/adjust harness and helmet and how to bilay. i fell asleep while CJ was briefing. oops?
oh when we surrendered stuff there was this green caterpillar crawling. into the grass. a while later a large black ant was dragging it. :S creepy.
bathing was fun. better than in sch, cos no one rushes you :D contrary to popular belief, the water is CLEAN and not brown or muddy. its clean(: you can take my word for it cos im a hygiene freak. in the sense that i cant stand bathing with dirty water.
kudos to the ppl who cooked! we had rice, sausages(I LOVE SAUSAGES i went koping from alot of ppl hahha oops) and campbell mushroom soup. hmm its the first time i've ever had canned soup. quite nice.
at night CJ(we're supposed to call them by name. took quite some time to get used to that) briefed us a bit about the next day.
sleeping was okay la.
tuesday 6mar07
woke up at an unearthly 4.45am. because i thought i heard ppl talking and laughing and getting up alr and i didnt want to squeeze for the toilet and we had to unpitch the tents etc as well. so i woke pei lih nicole and jem up. end up no one was up o.o
we were quite behind time esp since our tents were all not unpitched by the time we were supposed to meet for PT. what, 6.15? i tell you thats nuts la. but they extended the time anyway(: and we unpitched after PT. which was quite lame. some minglemingle thing.
then had some sharing thing and had to write journal. we went to the jetty for that, saw the sunrise(: i think i havent seen it before. i feel so deprived.
that was about 7 plus. by the time we unpitched tents and packed store etc neatly it was about... 9? can't remb.
height elements. FUN! zipwire. its something like flying fox. but poof so hot. i didnt have my watch with me so i didnt know the time but before i went i asked arnd and it was what, 10/11 plus ONLY? and so hot o.o felt like we had been there for ages la.
ziyan's group was doing rock wall.
janabel was freaking out about it. but she went in the end la(:
zipwire is... freaky. okay so maybe its cos im afraid of heights, but wdv. bilaying the ppl up is VERY tiring. hen3 chi1 li4. :( climbing up was scary la. cos must hurry up then i dont dare move too quickly.. dont intend to fall.
like everyone who went before said, the first step is the scariest. indeed. at the top you can see the tops of the trees la.
but its fun, really. want to scream also cannot. the heart-in-your-mouth kind of thing. dont mind going again though x) ah and ur groin will hurt like siao. makes me wonder how guys do it. -shrug-
then we had to go kayak o.o cindy (instructor of our buddy group, livingstone) and CJ were teaching us how to kayak. mhm.
they made us capsize. :S once near the shore, once in the open sea. we couldnt steer properly la. bummer. and we drifted until the mangrove there wth. then cannot move then must come out and empty the water. thanks carol for helping! :D
we had to learn to rescue the capsized ppl also la. mhm.
then it started to rain. heavily. and we couldnt steer to shore. so toot can? by the time we reached the rain was very heavy. and then cindy said we had to go pack and stuff and aim to leave camp 2 by 5. it was 4.15 then.
i was darned pissed cos they said must keep the wet clothes cos the next day must wear. and we were supposed to trek to camp 1. yeah pissed cos like wth? kayak in the rain not enough must walk in the rain must wear wet clothes?!
end up they cancelled the trek for that day. yay:) and we pitched tents at the beach front. thankyou ppl who cooked! :D had noodles and sardines and button mushrooms. I LOVE BUTTON MUSHROOMS! :D but this time didnt go kop from ppl x) im nice.
first time im eating sardines. lol? its nice. although now i have a bad feeling im allergic to it somewhat:\
that night chatted with annabelle! :D not much with mozzie. aww.
the next day was supposed to be kayaking the whole day. sea expedition la. so we had to pack our bags and stuff. two ppl to one bag. okay.
sleep... okay loh. woke up at 5.

the sharing thing was at the.. pontoon? ah wdv dunno how to spell.
PT in the morning. the hunter-squirrel-tree thing if i dont remb wrongly.
okay erm we set off at abt 9.45am from the beach front. tiring. the joints between my thumb and index got blueblack liao. but its fun la. unfortunately we were like perpetually at the back of the diamond formation we were supposed to have. which was kind of non-existant really.
did i mention that my group paired with livingstone? aka chiling and janabel and 14 other ppl. :)
our route... er. instead of gg around the whole p.ubin island we supposed to cut through the mangroves. whats it called, trans-island expressway. mhm.
we got lost there. rah. went arnd in circles. alot of screaming cos we kept banging either into one another then into the mangroves, or straight into the mangroves. kind of hard to get out of it. and the screams were because there were supposedly sandflies in there. and spiders. one climbed onto my hat. eew.
finally reached some place for lunch. there was a dog! looked somewhat like a golden ret. only not. prob a cross between a golden ret. and sth else. :) cute. IT IGNORED ME!!! :(
there were cyclists there too i think they see 16 kayaks think we all a bit sot one. x)
a long time later during which the turnings to avoid the mangroves improved our steering skills, we reached the open sea. yay!
we were like. PLEASE DONT CAPSIZE IN THE MANGROVE SWAMP! dont feel like rescuing! hahaha. the water was extremely dirty. and thats an understatement.
open sea, well... how to say? we were against the current and wind, and kept drifting towards malaysia(johor). freaky. i wouldnt mind drifting to singapore but to johor is a different thing altogether.
we were right at the back. bah.
ohwell! finally reached camp 1! and wonder of wonders we couldnt find our bag. so everyone changed and all, but we were still in our wet clothes AND wet shoes. which, needless to say, stank the hell out of us.
went for dinner in the canteen(NO NEED TO COOK!). delicious. then one of the instructors borrowed clothes for me from the medical centre so can go bathe.
CJ and cindy went back to camp 2 to look for our bags. so meanwhile we had to pitch tents. in the dark.
had to find and use rocks cos the pegs cannot go into the ground.
GUESS WHAT == we realised our bag WAS there after all. felt damn stupid and guilty for making the instructors go back la. sorry! :(
that night was the night i slept the most soundly.
OH did i mention i was seasick the moment i reached shore? even while sleeping, apparently. sway sway. o.o
woke up at 530.
thursday, 8mar07
PT was some egg->chicken->eagle->superwoman->immortal thing that we played in sch before. ppl left hadto do nanzhong quan but they gave up and sang school song instead. hilarious x)
breakfast was at abt 8, in the middle of the sharing/journal writing thingy.
imagine, so fast thurs le! o.o morning was a rush cos had to unpitch tents and change and stuff.
it was height elements again. i didnt do.. kind of regret it now. but ohwell. the ppl who went up said its difficult. esp the first one. jomain and nicole were the only two who reached the top. congrats! lol.
very hot.
CJ was being extremely lame. he was standing on the log and singing sound of music and dancing. o.o very funny. he's like a small kid trapped in a 30-year-old body. LOL.
after that was lunch. then had to rush to pack bag cos we had to trek back to camp 2. i was DREADING it okay. took ages to pack plus it was darn hot.
the bag was disgustingly heavy. but its an experience i suppose. :) and WHOOOO we reached camp 2 in like 15 min? less than half an hour. wahseh we took longer to pack than to trek la! but im not complaining! :D
we unpacked the stuff and all after that. mhm. and packed our own stuff.
our campsite was at the top, at the area where the height elements (zipwire, rockwall, 'ball-breaker' etc LOL) are. uhuh dinner was bread and canned food like sardines baked beans tuna. the only thing i ate with bread was the sardines. heh.
then had to prepare to night walk.
NIGHT WALK WAS DAMN FUN. :D
quite freaked out at first cos we had to crawl through an underground tunnel ALONE in the dark. im afraid of the dark. :) kind of. mind tends to wander...
ah but God is good(: first thing that came to mind was 'we live by faith, and not by sight.' hah.

the tunnel was rather clean. i crawled the whole way. and its so dark there's no point opening ur eyes anyway so i closed them. like cindy said, its very straightforward. SO SHORT LOH): feel so cheated.
then cos i was one of the first to crawl thru the tunnel had to wait at the holding area and cannot talk. could see the green lightsticks that they used to light the way to the opening of the tunnel, meaning the exit was near the entrance la. hur.
yes so me yunjia chiling stone there veryveryvery long with other ppl. we did alot of crazy stuff, like talk about giant spiders (we had to keep backing up to make space for ppl, and behind got COBWEBS) like in harry potter and yunjia was like we're going to be rolled up and eaten lol. and also about dinosaurs. i almost died trying to suppress my laughter la. and we sang the national anthem o.o HAHAHA. whispered, more like. hilarious.
it was really hot in there as well. and when i first came out, there was some chanting thingum. behind us. creepy.
okay after that had some sharing thing again and i went to bathe then went up to slp. actually not yet. thanks to zhuo da cos she cleaned out our verydirty tent.
ziyan came in for a while and we talked for a while:)
aft tt li yue was like you two very close leh. lol? heh. slept at arnd 12.
woke up at 6.

ZHENPINGDAY!!! :D
PT. had to RUN! ): i am SO unfit i tell you. going t die for track next term.
nothing much today just packed. bought two shirts(:
then we gathered at some place and steve started talking and some groups left to take the boat back.
grace (in ziyan's group) started singing some purple light/fishray song [anybody gt the madeup lyrics send me its hilarious x)] and steve was so embarrassed haha. somebody wanted to take pic with him and he rejected. aww. ouch. x)
lala then we took boat back la. AHHH the boat AFTER ours had jonathan inside!! :( actually no big loss la i think steve looks better just that the calf muscles are a bit.. scary. nice hands though(:
mhm. thats it for obs. i shall blog what happened after we reached the jetty in another post cos this one is darn long.
